How to Blog: Part II

In the first part, you learned about theme, fonts, and background images, among a few things. In this post, you'll learn about content, like what to write about, as well as tips for staying consistent, and how to stay original.

First Posts
Now that you've set everything up, let's move on to content. Writing your first post can be hard. You pretty much have to start from scratch writing a post. You could plan out what you want to write about before hand, but planning out the entire blog before you even write the first post is a little much. Besides, everyone's interests change over time, as do their writing styles. After a year or so, you'll look back on your first post and think that you could have done so much better, but don't change it, because a first post is so sentimental, and you can't bring yourself to delete it. Your first post is the one that everyone reads to decide if they should keep reading or not. If the first post is bad, you better hope that the second one is a lot better.

Quality or Quantity?
For blog posts, you definitely want quality. I would rather read one good post instead of two decent ones. You should focus on writing a great post once a week, rather than a semi-decent one everyday. Your readers will appreciate that you put effort into the posts, even if you don't have that many. I started this blog July 2018, and only have about 100 posts.

Consistency
By consistency, I don't mean that in one post you say that you love brown boots the best, and in another you claim that black boots are your favourite. People's opinions can change. No, I mean that you post once a month, then every day for a week, then once every other week. That is inconsistent, and I know I sound like a hypocrite, since that is exactly what I do, but trust me, I am going to try to post at least weekly. So, be consistent, and people will know when to visit your blog to read new posts.

Content: What to write about?
You should write about what you're passionate about. In this post I'll give examples of what to write about for fashion bloggers. These are popular things that a lot of fashion bloggers, myself included, write about.
  • OOTD- Outfit of the day.
  • Looking good on a budget (I haven't done anything on this yet, but I want to.)
  • Fashion Designers- There are endless posts you can write about fashion designers.
  • DIY- Transforming your clothes and making new clothes and accessories has lots of different posts waiting for you.
  • Plus size fashion- this is really popular, and there is a lot you can write about. Some fashion blogs are based on this.
  • Vintage Fashions- A lot of people like adding a vintage touch to their outfits, so this is a great choice to blog about.
  • Celebrities- Lots of people copy celebrities, so you could let them know what they're wearing.
That's all for this post. In the next post, we'll go farther in depth with content, and learn how to come up with original ideas, be actively involved in the blogging community, and get more viewers. If you haven't already, subscribe to be notified when new posts come out. Comment if you have any questions.
