How To Be Fashionable And Practical

I originally was going to write this post on fashionable vs practical purses, but then I realized that pretty much all purses are practical, so it would be a very short post. After that, I decided to make the post on fashionable vs practical clothing, but then I thought that why not just make it about how to be fashionable and practical? So, that's how this post came to be, which is also why it took my so long.
Speaking of, sorry for not posting on Thursday. Like I mentioned in Blog Gossip, I got writer's block, and I couldn't decide what to do for this post, since back then it was still about purses.
Here's how to be fashionable and practical at the same time.

  1. Buy multiples of something that fits you really well, that you can get in different colors. These are wardrobe essentials that you'll wear over and over again.
  2. Get inspiration from real people instead of celebrities. Most pictures of celebrities have been photoshopped to make them look better, and they're wearing ten gallons of makeup on top of that. Instead, look to people who you see out and about, live and in person.
  3. Keep track of outfits you've wore in the past, good or bad. Just make sure to separate them out, so you don't end up wearing a not so great look again.
  4. Start with neutrals, and then build on from that. White, tan, navy, black, gray, all of these neutrals work great for mixing and matching. Then it's on to the fun of colors, patterns, and more!
  5. Wear what works for you, not other people. Don't listen to fashion do's and don't's, instead, trust your gut, your style.
  6. Shop alone rather than with friends or family. They will either tell you how great you look, or end up accidentally insulting you. Trust your opinion, not anyone else's.
  7. Wear layers often, since temperatures can change suddenly. Wearing layers is great for shopping, since different stores can have different temperatures.
  8. Wear functional accessories. Purses, scarves, watches, they are look good, and have other useful purposes.
  9. Buy clothes for more than one occasion. That dress you got for a New Year's Eve party? Wear it to your family reunion or Christmas party.
  10. Don't buy things just because they're discounted. Most stores will mark down designer items, leaving people thinking they got a good deal, but it will still be really expensive.
That's all for this post. Thanks for reading!
