How To Stop Biting Your Nails

If you bite your nails, chances are you want to stop, but don't know how. Maybe you've looked up books or websites in order to help you. Most times websites will try to sell you chemicals to put on your nails so you don't bite them. However, that won't make you stop biting them forever. You might just take it off and then bite them, or come up with some other devious plan to continue biting your nails. In my opinion, you should just try not to bite. See how long you can go. Ten minutes? An hour? A day? A week? More? Not biting your nails takes a lot of self-control. But with these easy tips and tricks you might be able to finally break that bad habit. So, let's get started.

  1. Paint your nails. It helps a lot to look at how pretty your nails look.
  2. Wear gloves. You can't bite your nails without taking off the gloves.
  3. Put tape around your nails. While this may sound weird, it helped me a bit to stop biting my nails.
  4. Sit on your hands. There isn't really an explanation for this one.
  5. Chew gum. You won't want to bite when you're enjoying some gum.
  6. Keep your hands busy. If your hands are fiddling with a fidget, you won't want to bite your nails.
  7. If you bite your nails because of stress, write down what you're stressed about in a journal or talk to someone about it to calm yourself down.
  8. Cut your nails short so that there won't be anything to bite.
  9. If it's long nails you want, get a few sets of fake nails.
  10. Tell friends and family. That way, they'll tell you if they catch you biting.
